Naked Skiing Anyone?

With the ski season very nearly upon us, many of us are thinking about escaping the dull British weather and escaping for some bright white, action packed skiing.

But how many of the more risqué skiers amongst us are actually fancying a bit of 'naked ski'?

The latest trend, well actually it's been going for quite a while, is naked skiing. Traditionally this started when skiers stripped off on the last day of the season and hit the slopes totally starkers! Equally many charities have organised naked ski sessions in a bid to raise awareness and boost donations. And you might even see the odd skier who sheds their clothes to ski down the slopes for a practical joke.

Although some resorts make no secret of their naked skiing, for example:

Colorado's Copper Mountain – every year, usually Tax Day, the resort hosts its annual 'Eenie Weenie Bikini' Contest. Join skiers on the slopes in quite literally a teeny weeny yellow pokka dot bikini and not much more!

Colorado's Crested Butte - another resort that has a day of naked skiing on the last day of the season in April.

Obertraun in Austria is renowned for its naked skiing; in fact it even has a ski route especially for naked skiing enthusiasts!

So if you are fancying a bit of liberation this ski season do remember that in some countries public nudity is illegal, so do go to a resort where it is allowed, and ideally where naked ski is an organised affair. Also ask your ski instructor, maybe a lift operator or hotel reception on the dos and don'ts of naked skiing.

And do not forget your sun cream – all over! – and also the risk of frostbite! De-robe quickly and get your salopettes on even quicker when you're done!
